Compared to the 2002 and 2003 seasons, fishing conditions in September
04 were quite favourable. Wet and windy weather woke up the fish
and they were aggressively taking the fly.
Mr Harry Hodson started the month by catching 9 sea trout on Glenicmurrin.
Rosemary Fitzjohn and Geoffrey Fitzjohn fished Fermoyle Lough where
they landed an 8 lbs salmon and 1 sea trout.
The Freeland party fished throughout the system and caught a total
of 7 salmon and 22 sea trout during their stay.
The Carraroe Angling Club took a day out and landed 19 sea trout.
Robert Haughton and Eoin Jacob fished for 5 days and were joined
later on by William Haughton and Redmond Cabot. Between them they
had a very respectable tally of 39 sea trout and 2 salmon despite
some difficult weather conditions.
Hugh Jamison’s party had a terrific 2 day visit to the Casla. On
their first day they landed 25 sea trout on Fermoyle lough and 12
on Glenicmurrin. On day 2 they caught a further 14 sea trout on
Glenicmurrin and 2 on Clogher Lough.
Renee fished his favourite stretches of River Beats 2 and 3 where
he landed 11 sea trout during some horrible weather. Ronan O Grady
fished Glenicmurrin lough where he landed 14 sea trout and Jean
Pierre Maire caught 7 sea trout on River Beat 2.
Eamonn O Brien also caught 7 sea trout during his day out on Glenicmurrin
Lough. Geoffrey Fitzjohn finished his season with a 13lbs salmon
and a sea trout taken on River Beat 1.
Finally, Greg Perry and Tony Kavanagh landed 5 sea trout and a salmon
during the final day of the season on Clogher Lough.
