After almost 12 weeks with little or no rain, the first flood finally
arrived on the 22nd of June. Rod pressure was understandably low
up to that point but fish were being caught both before and after
the flood. Jean Pierre Maire caught the first 2 salmon of the season
(8lbs & 9lbs) both on Fermoyle Lough. Brian Dalton fished River
Beat 1 and caught 13 sea trout.
Stephen Jones caught a further 12 sea trout also on Beat 1. Alan
Curry was also rewarded on Beat 1 with 2 salmon (6lbs & 12lbs).
Next up on Beat 1 was Victor Martinez who landed a 6lbs grilse.
Doug Peterson was delighted with the 9lbs salmon he also caught
on the river.
Geoffrey Fitzjohn and Rosemary Fitzjohn took a day out on Fermoyle
Lough where they landed an 11lbs salmon and 5 sea trout. Stephane
Abinet and Geoffrey Fitzjohn fished Fermoyle Lough again and landed
8 sea trout.
Fergus Hogan opted for River Beat 2 and was rewarded with a 9lbs
salmon. Stephane Abinet and Geoffrey Fitzjohn fished River Beats
2 and 3 where Stephane caught a 7lbs grilse and 3 seatrout and Geoffrey
caught a 4lbs grilse and 2 sea trout.
Bruno Machado spent a half day on River Beat 1 and landed his first
salmon, a fine fish of 7lbs. Mike MacDonagh fished Fermoyle Lough
and caught a 4 lbs grilse whereas Eddie Blanch was out on Glenicmurrin
Lough and landed 6 sea trout.
Geoffrey Fitzjohn and Stephane Abinet were back out on Beats 2 and
3 on the river and caught an 8lbs salmon and 5 sea trout. JP Murphy
caught 2 salmon, Fermoyle Lough (8lbs) and Rusheen Lough (5lbs).
Greg Perry also fished Fermoyle and landed a 5 lbs grilse and finally
Liam Condon caught his first salmon on the fly on River Beat 1,
a fine fresh fish of 6lbs.
